How We Test AI Tools
The Overlord Score is a 0–10 rating. Here is what goes into it.
What we evaluate
| Factor | Weight | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| Output quality | 30% | Does it actually produce work you could use or sell? |
| Leverage | 25% | How much time or money does it save, or how much does it let one person do? |
| Value for money | 20% | Price compared to what you get, and how useful the free plan is |
| Ease of use | 15% | Time from signing up to getting a useful result |
| Reliability & trust | 10% | Uptime, data handling, company track record |
Process
- We use the tool on real tasks related to its category — not just a feature tour.
- Pricing and features are checked against the vendor’s own site. Each review shows a last verified date.
- Scores are reviewed by a human editor before publishing.
- Reviews are re-verified on a regular schedule and whenever a vendor makes major changes.
What we don’t do
- We don’t accept payment for scores or rankings.
- Affiliate relationships don’t affect scores. Some top-rated tools pay us nothing. See our affiliate disclosure.
- We don’t make income claims. A tool’s results depend on how you use it.
