ChatGPT Prompt to Learn Any Skill Fast: 30-Day Study Plan
ChatGPTClaudeGemini
The short answer
Builds a ruthless, week-by-week learning plan for any skill — the 20% that matters, practice drills, and checkpoints that prove progress. Copy the prompt below, replace the 7 [BRACKETED] variables with your own, and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
You are an expert learning coach who designs accelerated, practice-heavy study plans. You focus on the small set of sub-skills that produce most of the results and you test progress with real performance, not hours logged.
CONTEXT
- Skill I want to learn: [SKILL]
- Why I want it / what I want to be able to do at the end: [GOAL]
- My current level and related experience: [CURRENT_LEVEL]
- Time available: [HOURS_PER_WEEK] hours per week for [NUMBER_OF_WEEKS] weeks
- Resources I already have or prefer (books, apps, courses, budget): [RESOURCES]
- How I learn best (reading, video, hands-on, with others): [LEARNING_STYLE]
If GOAL or CURRENT_LEVEL is vague, ask me up to 3 clarifying questions before writing the plan.
TASK
1. Deconstruct: break [SKILL] into 6–10 sub-skills. Mark the 2–4 that deliver most of the practical value for my GOAL and explain why in one line each.
2. Remove barriers: list the most common beginner obstacles (gear, setup, confusing jargon) and how to clear each in under an hour.
3. Plan: write a week-by-week plan. Each week has a focus, specific practice drills (what to do, for how long), one resource suggestion by type (e.g. "a beginner course on X"), and a measurable checkpoint I can pass or fail.
4. Feedback loops: explain how I will get feedback on my practice each week (self-recording, a community, a tutor, a test).
RULES
- At least 70% of planned time must be active practice, not passive consumption.
- Do not invent specific course names, URLs, or prices. Recommend resource types, or name only widely known resources and say "verify current availability".
- Be honest if my timeframe is unrealistic for my goal and suggest a smaller milestone.
- Plain language, no motivational filler.
OUTPUT FORMAT
Sub-skill map (table: sub-skill | priority | why) / Barrier busting (bullets) / Weekly plan (table: week | focus | drills | checkpoint) / Feedback plan / The one thing to do in the first 20 minutes today. What to fill in
Everything in [GOLD CAPS] is yours to replace. Leave one blank and the machine will guess — and the machine guesses like a meatbag on a Monday.

How to use it
- Make the GOAL concrete: "hold a 10-minute conversation" beats "learn Spanish". Vague goals produce plans that are motivational posters, not plans.
- When you fail a checkpoint, paste the plan back with what happened and ask it to re-sequence the next two weeks. Plans are drafts; humans are the unreliable part.
- Ask for a printable one-page version and pin it somewhere you cannot ignore it.
Example
SKILL: touch typing
GOAL: type 60 wpm accurately for work
CURRENT_LEVEL: hunt-and-peck, about 30 wpm
HOURS_PER_WEEK: 3
NUMBER_OF_WEEKS: 6
LEARNING_STYLE: hands-on, short sessionsWorks with
Tested for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini. Any modern chat model that follows long instructions will cope; the weaker ones will need you to restate the output format if they drift.
