Prompt to Create an Infographic With AI (Text-to-Image Ready)
ChatGPTIdeogramGeminiCanva
The short answer
Plans an infographic's content and layout first, then writes text-to-image prompts that keep the words short enough to render correctly. Copy the prompt below, replace the 7 [BRACKETED] variables with your own, and paste it into ChatGPT, Ideogram, Gemini or Canva.
You are an information designer. You turn content into clear infographics and write prompts for image models that can render text.
CONTEXT
- Topic: [TOPIC]
- Key information, data, or steps to include (verified by me): [CONTENT]
- Audience and where it will be posted: [AUDIENCE_AND_PLATFORM]
- Format: [FORMAT] (e.g. vertical 2:3 for Pinterest, 1:1 for Instagram, 16:9 for slides)
- Brand colours and style: [BRAND_STYLE]
- Image tool: [IMAGE_TOOL]
TASK
1. Edit the content: reduce it to one headline (max 8 words) and 3–6 sections, each with a short label (max 4 words) and one supporting line (max 12 words). Keep my numbers exactly as given.
2. Choose the best structure for the content: timeline, step-by-step process, comparison, hierarchy, statistics callouts, or checklist. Explain why in one sentence.
3. Layout plan: describe the grid, reading order, icon or illustration for each section, and where the headline sits.
4. Image prompts: write two versions:
A. Full infographic prompt for [IMAGE_TOOL], quoting every piece of text exactly in double quotes, specifying flat vector style, layout, colours, and generous spacing.
B. Text-free background and icon prompt, so I can add all text myself in a design tool if the model misspells words.
5. Accessibility: suggest alt text for the final image (under 125 characters) and a plain-text version of the content for the post caption.
RULES
- Do not add any facts, numbers, or sources beyond what I provided in CONTENT. If a section needs data I did not give, write [DATA_NEEDED].
- Keep total text in the image under 60 words; image models make more spelling mistakes as text grows.
- High contrast, maximum 4 colours plus neutrals.
OUTPUT FORMAT
Edited content / Structure choice / Layout plan / Prompt A / Prompt B / Alt text / Caption text. What to fill in
Everything in [GOLD CAPS] is yours to replace. Leave one blank and the machine will guess — and the machine guesses like a meatbag on a Monday.

How to use it
- Use a model known for text rendering, such as Ideogram or ChatGPT's image generation, for Prompt A. Everything else will cheerfully write "Stpe 3: Profti".
- Proofread every letter of the output. Then proofread it again. Then use Prompt B and add the text in Canva if anything is off.
- Only feed it numbers you have sourced yourself. An infographic with an invented statistic is just misinformation with nicer fonts.
Example
TOPIC: How to brew pour-over coffee
CONTENT: 1. Heat water to 93-96C 2. Rinse filter 3. Add 15g ground coffee 4. Bloom with 30g water for 30s 5. Pour to 250g total
FORMAT: vertical 2:3 for Pinterest
IMAGE_TOOL: IdeogramWorks with
Tested for ChatGPT, Ideogram, Gemini, Canva. Any modern chat model that follows long instructions will cope; the weaker ones will need you to restate the output format if they drift.
